On July 4th, Mom (who was visiting from Georgia - thanks to the government for sending her to Pendleton!) and I took Beauregard to Long Beach for the day. It could not have been more perfect of a day.
We woke casually, got dressed (in swimming suits) and drove down to the Long Beach Dog Zone... a beach where Beau was free to run off-leash. He played with new dog friends, jumped in and out of the waves, chased a ball, chased a frisbee, dug lots of holes, and generally had a wild and wacky Dach/Lab day. (see pictures below)
Upon leaving, we thought out loud how much we would love some ice cream. Low and behold, suddenly there appeared a Cold Stone Creamery directly to our left. So, we whipped in and got some yummy goodness.
Beau napped in Mom's lap the whole way back. He was 100% beat from his day-o-fun.
When we got back to LA, we did a load of beach towels and decided that we might consider stepping outside of the apartment to see if we could find the fireworks somewhere in the night sky. (This was decided a mere 15 minutes prior to the launch time.)
When we (me, Beau and Mom) stepped outside, we saw a few bodies standing on the top of a parking garage (the Burbank Courthouse). We decided that must be THE place to see the show. We took the elevator up and sure enough, there were about 30 or so people standing up there waiting.
As it turned out, we had a most fabulous view of the Burbank fireworks. Because we had a 360-degree view from the top of that parking structure, we were also abel to see Pasadena's show, Hollywood Bowl's show, Universal Studios' show, and LA Proper's show.
Just a perfect day - sometimes the most unplanned, unstructured days are the absolute best.
